Since moving to Texas, artist Francesca d’Atria has enjoyed traveling to many Western states where she finds beauty in the land, especially the canyons. As both an artist and professor of art history, exploring these new lands have now led d’Atria to a new fascination with, and body of work focused on, various American Indian Nations and Western landscapes. The artist states, “I feel an affinity with their simple yet spiritual way of life. I am now on a quest to paint their narratives and how masterfully they describe their world and our world. Please take your time to see and feel their riveting sensibility.”

Her exhibition, “Sacred Land of American Indians” Paying homage to American Indian philosophies an exhibition of paintings by Francesca d’Atria – Romano, will be on view Sept. 7- Oct. 5, 2024. The exhibition can be found in the Education Wing Gallery at the Lewisville Grand Theater and is available free of charge Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., and during public events at The Grand. This exhibition is being presented by the City of Lewisville.

Francesca d'Atria is an accomplished and award-winning artist and educator, who continues to work in the creation of art as well as in serving on boards of directors for several local art groups, and is an in-demand exhibition judge for area exhibitions. Her most recent artwork consists of large acrylic landscape paintings featuring local Texas areas. Her unique style consists of both brush and pallete knife techniques in addition using semi-precious natural gemstones.
