Who’s At Your Table? Free Exhibition Workshop
Saturday, June 15, 2 p.m.
Space is limited - Register to attend

This workshop is your chance to lay out your own “Let The Tablecloth Speak” story map of what happens at your table. Jas Mardis, the artist behind the Let The Tablecloth Speak: The Embedded DNA Storytelling in Heirloom Linens exhibition, will guide participants through: 1. Choosing which family table to remember; 2. Laying out that table’s seating; 3. Choosing the best stories from that family gathering; 4. Crafting those stories for brevity and retelling; and 5. Creating your paper tablecloth layout and deciding how much of the tablecloth each person’s story will get.

This workshop will be held in the Art Gallery at the Lewisville Grand Theater and is limited to 20 registrants. Register to reserve your spot.

Jas Mardis is a 2014 Inductee to the Texas Literary Hall of Fame, an awarded Public Radio Commentator, an awarded Poet, Writer, Storyteller, Orator and Editor of KenteCloth: Southwest Voices of the African Diaspora, 2000, University of North Texas Press. Jas also has a Family Story Project workshop where these same techniques and processes have helped many families with archiving their history.

Let The Tablecloth Speak: The Embedded DNA Storytelling in Heirloom Linens will be available for viewing June 8 through July 6. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and during public events at the venue.
