Even before the first American settlers arrived in 1841, the area that became Lewisville was a popular campsite for Native American tribes drawn by the fresh water and thick timber. Lewisville is proud of its history, and rightfully so. Much of that history is preserved today, so that visitors never know when a step around the corner might become a step into Texas' past.
