Texas Stadium

You can’t talk about the Dallas Cowboys without mentioning Texas Stadium. The NFL football team moved from the Cotton Bowl to Texas Stadium in 1971 and clinched the first of its Super Bowl championships within months. But after spending more than 36 years headquartered at the Irving, Texas football stadium, the Dallas Cowboys’ days at the stadium are numbered. The team is scheduled to play at Texas Stadium through the end of the 2008 NFL football season before relocating to a new stadium in Arlington, Texas in 2009. The new Dallas Cowboys stadium, as yet unnamed, will pay homage to Texas Stadium with its open roof design, an architectural feature for which the stadium has long been celebrated. Although the roof is open, the seating area remains covered. Amenities include luxury suites, a private club and The Corral, a tent that offers pre-game and post-game entertainment on Dallas Cowboys game days.

In addition to Dallas Cowboys football games, the stadium has hosted numerous high school football games, the 2001 Big XII Championship game and such major events as a Billy Graham Crusade. Performing artists who have appeared include Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Metallica, Carmen, George Strait and Garth Brooks.

Location
The Arboretum is located at 8525 Garland Road, near White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas.
